Lead Teacher: Photo Portraits
Venice Arts is seeking a creative and passionate Lead Teacher to lead its Photo Portraits workshop during this summer’s Media Arts Camp. This hands-on teaching opportunity is ideal for photographers and visual storytellers excited to work with high school youth in an engaging, community-centered environment. The workshop will explore portrait photography techniques ranging from professional lighting setups to spontaneous street-style shoots, while introducing students to Lightroom editing and creative visual storytelling. Lead Teachers will mentor young artists, foster confidence and self-expression, and help students develop portraits that reflect their unique artistic voice. Volunteer Artist Mentor
Venice Arts’ Media Arts Education + Mentoring (MAE) program offers a volunteer opportunity to serve as a Mentor. Mentors provide support to youth ages 9-18. Alongside the Lead Teaching Artist and a Teaching Assistant, Mentors are members of the faculty team. A typical MAE workshop consists of 8 to 12 youth, Venice Arts aims to provide a mentorship ratio of 1 faculty member to 4 or less youth. This ratio is especially beneficial for working in small groups and providing 1:1 youth support.
