Venice Arts is one of the Los Angeles Art organizations selected to participate in the Getty's community program, LA: In Dialogue. Created in conjunction with the Getty's new photography exhibit, Dawoud Bey & Carrie Mae Weems: In Dialogue, this program seeks to introduce a new audience to the work of Bey and Weems. As a part of this program, Venice Arts photography students attended the opening of Dawoud Bey & Carrie Mae Weems: In Dialogue at the Getty Center and a lecture by the two artists.
This summer, photography students will create work taking inspiration from Bey & Weems using black and white analog photography and explore and document their local communities. The program will end in a cumulative exhibition in June 2023.
