Venice Arts Students Receive Scholastic Art & Writing National Gold Medal

Venice Arts students Carol A. and Jake S. have both been awarded a National Gold Medal in Photography from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. After each receiving a Gold Key in the Regional Awards, Carol and Jake were automatically placed in the national competition where they were 2 of the 2,600 teens nationwide to win a National Award and 2 of the 1,041 teens to win a Gold Medal Award in 2024.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, established in 1923, are prestigious and long-standing recognition program for creative teenagers in the United States. The awards were founded to celebrate and nurture the artistic and literary talents of middle and high school students with many renowned artists, writers, and thinkers, such as Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, and Stephen King, counted among its alumni. The awards provide young creatives with scholarships, exhibition opportunities, and national recognition, playing a crucial role in fostering the next generation of artists and writers.
