Panelists from Disney, Dreamworks, and Illumination will walk you through animation pre-production, production and post-production, using examples of some of your favorite animated features.

Ludovic Bouancheau
Head of Character Animation
DreamWorks Animation

A graduate from Gobelins, Ludovic Bouancheau was recruited by DreamWorks Animation as an animator on Madagascar 2 (2008). He then went to India to help launch the new DreamWorks studio in Bangalore, where he supervised on A Merry Madagascar Christmas (2009) and Scared Shrekless (2010). Back to Los Angeles, he animated on Megamind (2010), Puss in Boots (2011), Turbo (2013) and Home (2015). In 2015, he became a supervising animator and worked on Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016), The Boss Baby (2017), Abominable (2019) and Trolls World Tour (2020).

He most recently worked on Puss in Boots the Last Wish as Head of Character Animation. He was nominated to the VES Awards in 2012 for his work on the character of Puss in Boots and to the Annie Awards in 2017 for his reel on Kung Fu Panda 3. He gave master classes about acting and workflow at DreamWorks studios, Gobelins Summer schools in Paris and Hong Kong, and at CTN expo among others.

David Fluhr
Supervising Re-Recording Mixer

David Fluhr attended Crane School of Music in NY, majoring in Electronic Music Composition. After coming to LA in 1980 to work as an office assistant at a state of the art post production facility, he began his career in sound for picture as a transfer operator, sound editor, and then a stage recordist/assistant. He then launched his re-recording career mixing documentaries, TV shows, and many of the high-profile music specials and videos at the time.

After winning 9 Emmys with 38 nominations and two Cinema Audio Society awards for his work over the next 10 years, he transitioned to live action film sound re-recording. In 2004, he was invited to Walt Disney Studios where he also began mixing animated films. Since 2004, David has mixed dialog and music on every animated film for Disney Animation Studios.

Maya Kambe
Director of Development
Illumination Entertainment

Maya Kambe is currently the Director of Development at Illumination Entertainment where she oversees the development of animated franchises such as the SUPER MARIO BROTHERS, THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS as well as original projects. Maya previously worked at Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Animation in both production and development with credits on projects like THE BOSS BABY, CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS, THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE: SPONGE OUT OF WATER and the upcoming TIGER’S APPRENTICE. She attended Skidmore College where she majored in Art History and minored in Arts Administration and Business. Maya was born in Tokyo, Japan and raised in Los Angeles, CA.

Berenice Robinson
VP of Post production/Post Producer
Walt Disney Animation Studios

Berenice Robinson started her career in France at Buena Vista International Europe in 1992, then moved to London in 1993 as the Director of Film Operations for Europe, supervising International releases for both Live Action and Animated Titles over 32 territories. She then moved to LA in 1996 as a Supervisor of Post production for Walt Disney Animation.

Her first movie was Hercules and worked closely with Directors John Musker and Ron Clements. Berenice became the head Post Production at WDAS in 2006. Berenice has worked on more than 20 animated titles and just recently finished “Strange World" and is working on the 100th year Anniversary Feature release for 2023.

Priority for in-person training programs and financial stipends, including opportunities for paid internship placements, is given to active participants, ages 18- 24, in Creative Conversations, as well as young people who are low income, foster youth, homeless, and/or justice involved.
