Arlene participated in Venice Arts’ Documentary Program Picturing Health in the Boyle Heights neighborhood. Picturing Health was project where teens in Boyle Heights showed some of the neighborhoods health challenges such as quality of housing and the presence of trash while also showing its strengths such as the importance of music and culture to the area. About her participation in the project, Arlene wrote, “This experience has made me passionate about making issues stand out. I feel health issues are really important because I personally had health issues and I would want to help other people be healthy and safe.”
